I bought this kit after tasting lots of Cake pops at different get togethers and really wanting a set myself. I was higly dissapointed when I got it and made my first batch. This one only makes 6 pops at the time, and though follow receiptsm, the cake will not rise high enough to fill the rubber pan. A total waste of money. I bought two sets, one to give as a gift, and if I hadn't sent it off before trying mine, I would not have sent it at all. There are other kits available in metal pans that makes 18 or so pops for about the same price.... try those instead of this.

i used to make cake pops the traditional way (bake cake, crumble, mix with frosting, roll into balls, refrigerate, hope they don't fall apart while decorating) but there were two things i didn't like about the process: first, they crumble apart pretty easily while decorating and eating, and second, they are too sweet because you're mixing frosting into the cake, then adding a sugary coating to decorate it. you can get around the 'too sugary' think by mixing creme cheese into the cake mix instead of frosting, but then the cake pops are too rich in my opinion.so when i saw this mold at bb&b i decided to give it a shot (with a 20% off coupon it was about $8). i saw a similar, larger metal mold on the shelf next to it but decided to go with this one because i didn't want another large piece of bakeware to store in my small kitchen and i thought the silicone flexibility would come in handy while popping the cake pops out of the mold. i just used this last night to make some 'cake balls' (no popsicle stick, just the cake part) as a test to see if the mold would really work, and they turned out perfectly. i made a vegan/gluten-free cake batter and was worried that the pops might not rise all the way to the top, but six of them did (and the other two were still in a ball shape, just a little smaller). the ones that rose up all the way were the ones i filled the most. some of the pops had extra cake around the middle where the two halves of the mold meet - the batter leaked out a bit while baking - but you can easily just pull or cut those off before you decorate the pops. once they're decorated you don't notice any seams in the pops where the molds meet.so here are the pros and cons:PROS* small and easy to store* very easy to use - just pour batter into mold and bake instead of hand rolling each pop and refrigerating often so they'll hold shape* flexibility of the mold makes it very easy to remove pops from mold* easy to clean* includes 50 popsicle sticksCONS* this mold only makes eight pops at one time, so if you want to make more than that you'll have to buy more than one mold* the batter may leak out a bit where the molds meet, so you'll have to trim off excess before decorating* takes 18 minutes to bake + 15 minutes to cool before you can remove them from the moldoverall i think this mold is a good value for what you're getting and i'm glad i bought it. i make cake pops a few times a year and i usually don't make more than 20 at a time so this size mold is a good balance of space-saving and usability. if you're going to make a bunch of pops i would recommend either getting more of this mold, a mold that holds more pops, or one of the machines that makes the pops in under five minutes.
